Our History
The Safina party was established in May 1995, by Senior Counsel Paul Muite and the paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey. The party was routinely harassed by then President Moi’s government and even its application to become an official political party was not approved until 1997.
That year, international donor institutions froze their aid to Kenya because of widespread corruption.

Message from our Party Leader
From Our
Party Leader
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) mustn’t approve the 78% price hike sought by Kenya Power; oppressive to all Kenyans. If approved, manufactured goods will not be competitive. The solution is to License competition; end Kenya Powers monopoly, incompetence & runway corruption.
The competition will bring down consumer costs and usher in reliable supply but I suppose KPL is a cash cow for a few including “Independent Power Producers”…
A Word From OUR
National Secretariat
The National Secretariat is the oil that runs through the engine of our party.
Since the formation of Safina Party in 1995, we have been in the forefront fighting against corruption and defending human rights. We have been on the forefront fighting against extra judicial killings by the Kenyan Police. We were also involved in championing for the Kenya's Constitution of 2010. The party was one of the founder members of Center For Multiparty Democracy (CMD) and Political Parties liaison committee (PPLC).
